François Jégou has a degree in industrial design at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle, Les Ateliers, Paris.
For 20 years he has worked as a consultant in strategic design based in Paris, Milan and Brussels. In 1990, he created the consultancy DALT in Paris and in 2002 Strategic Design Scenarios, based in Brussels, both specialising in co-designing scenarios and new product-service system definition.
He teaches as visiting professor in the Faculty of Design of the Politecnico di Milano, La Cambre School of Design, Brussels and collaborates in different design, food engineering and pharmaceutical schools in Europe.
François Jégou initiated the Solutioning-design.net network for the research and development of methodologies of co-design of scenarios. He is involved in E.U. research projects investigating the emergence of sustainable solutions (EMUDE, SusHouse), the design of product-service systems (HiCS, MEPSS), the innovation process in small and medium-sized enterprises (UCIM, E-VAN, ADAPT), the impact of augmented workspaces (IST / Ambiant Agoras) and the création of deliberative processes on Nanotechnologies (Nanoplat). He was also involved in the EU funded DAN (Design for Ageing Network) project and develops afterward different research on the accessibility of products and services to elderly people in the field of packaging and pharmaceutical packaging.
He is co-organiser, together with E. Manzini, of the Sustainable Everyday Project (SEP) an open web platform (www.sustainable-everyday.net) to stimulate research and didactic activities between social innovation, design for sustainability and peer-to-peer services
He has curated a number of exhibitions including “Sustainable Everyday, Scenarios of urban life” / La Triennale di Milano 2003 ; “50 years of electricity” / EDF 1998 ; “Emballage” / La Villette 1994 ; “Package” / Emballage trade show 1992. He organises networking activities (SEP / Sustaianble Everyday Project; PharmaDesign / Faculty of Pharmacy of Clermont-Ferrand; PackVision / International competition of design schools for sustainable packaging).
