OPEN Lecture: Durrell Bishop
Thursday, 18th Feb 2010Physical Interaction, Skills and Visualising Systems/Services
The computer screen is a window on to a new world, but the services it provides don’t need to always hide behind the window. For much of our lives products have disappeared, sucked in to computers to become wonderful lights on screens. Luckybite bring some of the potential of the internet and computers back in to physical world. Durrell will talk a bit about types of design through examples of installations, products, print & inventions. Ultimately raising the question, ‘what is ‘useful’?
Durrell Bishop is a partner in Luckybite with Tom Hulbert, working on physical interfaces, product design and interactive media. Prior to this he was a senior interaction designer at IDEO Europe. He co-founded Itch, which won a D&AD Gold award for large-scale work on the Science Museum Welcome Wing, and he was a partner in Dancing Dog, working on camera-based interfaces to computer games.
